Every now and then in the world of design, someone makes an incredible innovation to an every day item. An item who’s function is so basic and necessary that it’s never even crossed your mind that it could be improved upon. Like a door.
The Evolution Door
This design by Klemens Torggler is called the Evolution Door and that really is the perfect name for it. Like a fish who suddenly sprouted legs and walked into a bar, you can’t help but stare at this door in an attempt to convince yourself that it is, in fact, still a door at all. The incredible folding design allows it to open and close without the typical spatial requirements of a swing door and the mechanism is so fluid that it’s mesmerizing. And let’s not overlook that the triangular segments only add to the overall look.
