This volume of ‘the week in photos’ is brought to you by our good friends at Hatch Interior Design. Hatch is based in Kelowna, BC and recently took home an IDIBC Award at this year’s Gala of Excellence.

A little design tidbit coming your way MāK followers – look to nature for inspiration. Mother Nature really is the world’s best designer, and at this time of year, the transformation of our landscape with stunning autumn colors leaves us truly inspired. Our designers at Hatch have been busy snapping photos of the scenery surrounding our home in the Okanagan and finding parallels in the design world just for your viewing pleasure.

The corn fields are always so textural at this time of year; the husks remind us of this new Hubbarton Forge light fixture we recently spotted at the grand opening of Robinson Lighting’s new Kelowna showroom.

Over the past 5 years we’ve seen a number of textiles and carpet products created with natural textures and tones. The leaves that have fallen to the pavement at this time of year surely were the inspiration for Shaw Contract Group’s Affluence pattern.

It’s getting chilly out there! In Kelowna there are many homes that are heated using wood fired stoves and at this time of year it’s time to stock up on wood for the winter season. We were out cruising the streets and spotted this pile of cut wood outside a neighbour’s home. We can’t help but see the parallel with Brent Comber’s Shattered collection.

Unless you’ve been under a rock, you have probably noticed that ombré has been huge in fashion design, aesthetic design and interior design over the past few years. Have you seen the natural stages of ombré in the transitioning leaves and trees this fall? We wonder if this space designed by Ghislaine Viñas was homage to the gradient of fall hues?

Nature can really be observed in so many places. We were at an event at The Factory and saw this amazing painting by artist Heidi Thompson. It reminds us of the fall – red, green, yellow and a blue bird sky.

Apparently someone here in Kelowna thought the trees needed a little help in the dropping temperatures! These yarn-bombed trees outside the Kelowna Art Gallery made us think of Mediacom’s new space designed by The Bold Collective.

We hope you are inspired to get out there this weekend to enjoy the amazing fall scenery. Who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired to start your next design or art project. Happy Friday!
