Reimagining a Whistler institution is no small ask. Tommy Africa’s had been a basement-level institution for years — beloved, dated, and well past its best life. The new owners wanted to push the mountain town’s nightlife upmarket: a destination for post-dinner drinks that might turn into something more. With the space gutted, we reconfigured the bar layout for better flow, introduced materials that read upscale without feeling out of place at altitude, and created an atmosphere that earns its late nights.
