For a globally distributed team like Hootsuite, the pandemic offered a genuine opportunity to rethink what their Vancouver headquarters was actually for. The concept that emerged: ‘welcome interruptions’ — moments of wonder and respite woven throughout a working day. Dynamic elements like colourful furniture and mural graphics are balanced by living walls, natural light, and quiet retreat spaces. Existing ‘cabin’ structures on the floor were preserved and transformed from traditional meeting rooms into closed lounges, collaboration spaces, and hybrid huddle rooms. Adaptability was built in from the start — because no one could predict how the return to the office would evolve, and Hootsuite needed a space ready to change with their team.
